As some of you might've encountered - Windows 8 / 8.1 + Half-Life might not mix that well together. Ever since I installed Windows 8 my mouse has had a wobbly feel to it while playing Half-Life and I just recently found a way to fix it.

Steam library -> Half-Life *right click* Properties.. Under "General" Tab, press "Set Launch Options" and copy paste the following into it:

-noforcemparms -noforcemaccel -nofobo

Fixed my issue and set me right back on track with HL1DM.

Noticed this might happen with Win 10 as well. If those fixes I mentioned don't work, keep them set and try finding VSYNC related settings from the game settings or your GPU's control panel. Disable VSYNC and just set your games FPS cap to what ever Hz your monitor is to avoid screen tearing.

You can set FPS gap with max_fps <number of frames per second>
for example max_fps 120
You can then validate your framerate with;
cl_showfps 1
